Professor Williamson is Dean of Medicine at the University of St Andrews, and a clinician-scientist with extensive leadership experience in academia and public health. She has authored or co-authored over 300 publications, and her work, focusing on the development and application of innovative technologies to infectious diseases, has attracted significant research funding and has been recognised with awards such as the L’Oreal-UNESCO Women in Science Fellowship. Returning to Scotland in 2024, Professor Williamson joined the University of St Andrews and Public Health Scotland, combining her leadership experience with a commitment to advancing medical education and research.
Professor Williamson joined the SSAC on 1 March 2025.
